What Is Kiss Cutting?
Kiss cutting is a die-cutting process of manufacturing parts while leaving them attached to a backing, often carrier tape or a silicone release liner. The parts are wound and delivered in roll forms and can be cut into discrete parts. The parts stay on the removable layer of paper or foil making it easier to transport, organize and is easily peeled off when needed for an application. This process requires extreme precision so that the foil or paper backing remains intact without any slits or cracks.
Kiss Cutting Process
The kiss cut process begins with a digitally printed design that is processed through the laser cutting machine. A layer of foam is placed on top of a removable paper or foil. The laser machine then cuts through the material but not through the release liner. The method's name comes from the die (blade) gently “kisses” the backing foil or paper without cutting or ripping through.
